Epiphanies by an LRT handrail

I felt the urge again today ... to just go, just walk, just listen to the moment and let it lead me where it wants. And it has led me to ... the mall and the LRT trains. I don't know what it is about the trains that fascinate me. It's the rush, I guess, to let yourself be driven by the wave of people hurrying to get to wherever they have to get to. Funny, though, although I feel that energy and try to place myself in it, I still end up on the outside, observing the energy as it rushes past me. Fascinating. And I end up thinking, what's the rush? What the hell are we all rushing for? Slow down. Slow down. Life's meant to be savored not gulped down like a bitter pill.

Stop. Be still. What beauty life is.

Take your moments. Pay attention.

A child's smile, a nicely-done book cover, mild rain, hope, a strong cup of coffee, a courteous guard helping you find your way to National Bookstore, lemonade, feeling the swish of the trains coming to a halt as you struggle to stand still, an old lady learning how to use the automated ticket dispenser, nice soft seats at the food court, knowing how to shift your weight during the train ride, finding enough money to buy new sandals, good conversation, finishing your laundry, music, a good mirror in the washroom, sore feet, kindness, home, iced tea, the evening's cool breeze, reconciliation, your mother's voice, your dad's compassion, a text from your boss saying "wag mong problemahin yon, magpahinga ka na lang", cotton swabs, YM, optimism, a day off, love ...

Know this ... Life is good.

It is still all good.
